Streetpass Quest II (3DS): COMPLETED!

Right now let me just explain something. I technically reached the end of Streetpass Quest II ages ago, but I didn’t mention it. I don’t know why. However, it was just as well – there was more to do as it turns out there’s a Secret Quest! Which is like the normal one only harder. There are something like 6 playthroughs of that before you have taken every path, opened up every route, and obtained every hat, so I’ve been …

Streetpass Quest (3DS): COMPLETED! AGAIN!

There was an update to the 3DS last week which added a few features (like 3D video recording and marginally better friend list management), and as part of it there was a new Streetpass Quest II “mission” for the Mii Plaza. Hurrah! Unfortunately, you can’t do it unless you’ve completed the first Quest twice, when I’d only done it once. So, armed with 300 play coins, I set about doing it again. Surprisingly, I managed it with “just” 240 coins …

Guitar Hero World Tour (360)

After I dropped off my broken Wii at the post office yesterday, I went next door to Blockbuster and accidentally bought Guitar Hero World Tour and Street Fighter IV in a two for £30 deal. And? Well, it’s Guitar Hero. Only with a pants setlist. Also, I know that it’s now a full-band title so some tracks will be better for guitar than others, but tracks like No Sleep Til Brooklyn actually allow the guitar player to sleep through. It’s …

Gameking – Unleash the Games!

<< Previous (The Gameking) Gameking Games Readers without short-term memory problems will recall that I bought 13 games to go with my Gameking. Each and every one is special in its own special way. Special as in “special needs”, naturally. Firstly, a few points about Gameking games. The cartridges are strikingly familiar to anyone who has ever played on a Game Boy, since they’re exactly the same as Game Boy cartridges. Almost, anyway – instead of “Game Boy” they say …

Astral Chain (Switch): COMPLETED!

I always like the idea of Platinum games, with their amazing combat and bonkers stories, but I rarely hold them in the high regard a lot of other people seem to. Bayonetta is a great game, but is it worth the heaps of praise it gets? I’m not sure. The Wonderful 101 was, well, Wonderful, but it was a way from perfect despite the reviews. Astral Chain, though, is really something special. I think, being half “adventure” and half combat …

3DS Update!

I have more thoughts about the actual games over on my Gaming Diary, but here are some more comments about the handheld itself. First of all, I love it. Everything about it. It’s such a lovely, lovely device. The screens are bright, the 3D adds loads to the games (and even just the menus and stuff), and the extras already installed are great. I’ve been playing through Super Street Fighter IV and logging which characters I’ve completed it as in …

Explaining the bad thing

The other day I posted a cryptic picture of a bit of an online Asda order, but didn’t explain it. Of course, some of you guessed: I had indeed ordered a 3DS. And two games. Ssshh! It’s a secret to everybody! You (as in, James Luff) may be wondering how I pulled off this cheeky stunt with the £18 Rule in full effect. Well, here’s how. Warning! May contain maths: Base cost of 3DS on Asda’s website: £217 Cost of …
